Inspection of tall, inaccessible, or large-scale assets and infrastructure is now a proven methodology with advantages.
Safer: avoid working at heights, in confined spaces, or in proximity to site hazards
Faster: depending on the asset, we can typically demonstrate a 2x to 10x time saving over traditional methods
Cost-effective: if access is an issue, then drones are more cost-effective than rope access, EWP, or helicopter inspection
Better data: full asset coverage with high-resolution imagery and optional 3D model for archival records. In some cases, automated defect and change detection between inspections are also possible.
TYPES OF INSPECTIONS

Module Faults: Individual hot spots on a single cell, diode failures, junction box issues, modules that are cracked or require cleaning as well as coating problems
String Faults: Damaged cables and inverter failures
Locate electrical insulation and capacitor breakdown
Monitor voltage balance, overload or over-voltage
Monitor bearing performance wear and highlight solar panel misalignment
Racking and balance of system: Usually in relation to the way in which modules are mounted

Corrosion and mechanical integrity
Identifying the types of components and their bearing on a tower for records and planning for the future. Cable part numbers and small details can also be acquired.

Pre-work inspection to determine the tools and parts needed ahead of a climb to avoid time wasted returning to the ground to find the right tool.
In the case of a structural emergency, you can investigate the structure’s integrity before you climb and find out if it’s safe to climb at all.
